Goldfish Centerpieces

by megan on August 20, 2009

My friend recently told me of  some behind-the-scenes drama of her best friend’s wedding:

The reception table centerpieces were vases filled with flowers and a goldfish swimming underneath all of them. The bride had bought 32 goldfish the morning of her wedding and kept them in the plastic bag until it was time to place them. Her sweet younger sister had grown attached to these fish and had actually given all 32 names – thinking that she would be gaining 32 goldfish at the end of the night. When it came time to place the fish in the vases, a bridesmaid picked up the bag only to find all 32 goldfish belly-side up floating at the top of the bag. Someone had forgotten to poke holes for the fish to breathe. Needless to say little sis was in hysterics and the centerpieces came together sans goldfish.

Moral of the story: Fish need oxygen too – so make sure you have a temporary tank for them to hang out in.

Is it bad that I find that hysterical?

Poor little girl but a story they will laugh about for years.
